Overwatch redesigns Anran after voice actor and fan criticism

Blizzard is listening to feedback and plans to redesign Anran, a new hero in Overwatch 2 (now just Overwatch), after criticism from fans and her own voice actor, Fareeha Anderson.

Overwatch is making a comeback, and part of that is introducing new heroes. Anran, described by the game director as a tough older sister, has faced some criticism regarding her in-game appearance. Apparently, she looks too similar to other female heroes and doesn’t really stand out as her own unique character.

Fareeha Anderson, who voices Anran, took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice her concerns, stating:

"It's not the bold, optimistic swing that we know Overwatch to make and it's a look that isn't congruent with her personality, right? She looks like the younger sibling. She looks more docile somehow as the fire hero." Fareeha Anderson, Voice actor for Anran

While opinions on X were mixed, Blizzard has decided to revisit Anran's design. Game Director Aaron Keller confirmed on X that the team is discussing how to make Anran look and feel more like the "fierce older sister" they envisioned for her.

Blizzard mentioned that they wanted to share this news earlier but wanted to confirm the changes first. They also noted that Xbox Game Pass subscribers get some cool benefits for Overwatch, including hero skins and XP boosts.
